This exceedingly rare New York City bank was in business barely five years before liquidating in 1907. A total of $189,250 was issued, all Red Seals, for which just $5,965 remained outstanding in 1910. The years that followed took their toll, such that only this single $20 note remains today. It is evenly circulated and pretty much defect free, except for a few insignificant pinholes. In 1994, this note brought $990 at a CAA sale. It sold for almost 10 times that amount nine years later in 2003. We will see what this unique Red Seal brings today. Good pen signatures of Frank C. Mayhew, President and Chas.
