This Fr. 61 $5 1862 legal tender without the word "series" on the face was the first discovered and initially sold by Dennis Forgue to Jack Fisher in 1975. Since that time nine others have surfaced. All are lower grade than this evenly circulated example that was the original discovery and it remains the finest known. Most of the remaining examples came from the Davenport bank hoard we handled in 1995. Here is the only decent example known from the original plates.
