This was a one-bank town with the bank being chartered in 1902 and issuing Red Seals for their initial run of notes. They printed 1,050 sheets, making thoughts of survival all but a dream with one in four odds. There are only five Red Seals known from the entire state, and this is the only $20, all the others are $10s. This note was part of a major collection and sold privately in 2003 in excess of $50,000. Today, with one other known on the state, that may still be a bargain as only 82,200 notes were printed, so statistically one can only expect five to turn up and that's pretty close. This note has even wear and is problem free. The appearance makes it attractive to me, even if it's missing the signatures of L.S. Hills, President and D.A. McMillan, Cashier. --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection --- Jess Lipka Red Seal Collection
