Lot #2048 - East Liverpool, First NB, 2146

National Bank Notes > Ohio

East Liverpool, First NB, 2146
Fr. 382 $1 Original
Grade: XF-45
This is one of only 75 serial #1 aces to have survived the original series issue of first charter nationals. The charter number wasn't required on notes until the Act of June 20, 1874, and since $1 and $2 were stopped in 1879, fewer still of these would have survived redemption. It is essential to remember that bankers generally only saved the #1 note at the opening, not if ensuing changes caused a reissue. Note that this note has a plate date of May 25, 1874, under a month before the new act dictated that the charter number was required. This note has excellent signatures of D. Boyer and F. D. Kitelul. Graded XF-45 by CGA.
Current Bid: $ 7,500.00
