A truly great rarity for the great state of Illinois. This bank was chartered in 1865 and liquidated in 1884, probably was shifted into the Merchants Bank that was chartered the year this bank closed. The bank issued $1, $2, $5, $10 and $20 First Charters, but only two have survived. This Ace is a peach with lovely originality and impressive pen signatures of H.N. Wheeler, President and O. Smith, Cashier.
