This was the first day of issue for this note. A ceremony was held in front of Rockefeller Center in New York, and Mary Ellen Withrow autographed these $50 notes. Only about 15 of these were sold that day since, as luck would have it, the date was October 27, 1997, the day the stock market crashed. The news media, and the public, headed off to Wall Street. The note is contained in a nice pamphlet with a rather prophetic quote which says, "Yesterday is a cancelled check, tomorrow is a promissory note, but today is cash". A special item for the autograph collector.
