This note is an excellent example of Dr. Lee's goal to have the earliest notes in the best grade. There is a contemporary description in the left margin that reads, "Arrived 5/74 C.M.P." The census indicates there are 10 notes reported, all are First Charters. The bank liquidated in 1893 after their charter would have expired or just been renewed (there was a depression in 1893). A nice note from this St. Joseph County bank. The Dr. Wallace Lee Collection.
