Dowagiac, First NB, 1625
Fr. 402 $5 1875
Grade:

A real rarity of the first of the town's two national banks. The bank was chartered in 1865 and had closed as the New Year got started in 1883. Just 7,750 sheets of $5s were issued. This is truly the third serial number reported from this early bank. It's virtually identical to the example we sold in 2007 at $5,000. A very desirable note from this Cass County bank with note has great pen signatures of D. Lyle and N.F. Choate. The Dr. Wallace Lee Collection.
