A very scarce Cumberland County bank, not to be confused with the other, far more common bank in town. This very small bank issued just 2,872 sheets of large size notes, and had a miniscule $440 in large outstanding in 1935. Just two large size notes are reported in the census. This is a dandy note that is bright and fresh with delightful strong pen signatures of S.B. Hewlett, Cashier and J. Clyde Swiegert, Vice President. From Lyn Knight, 8/01.
