This is absolutely one of the highlights of this Missouri offering. A magnificent $5 Original Series from St. Joe's earliest bank. This bank was short-lived, being in business from 1865 to 1878, when St. Joseph was the main shopping point and the beginning of the railroad, as well as the wagon trains heading west. In those day St. Joe was a serious point for the migration of immigrants and settlers heading west to find fame and fortune, or hard work and struggles. This beauty is the only $5 First Charter and there are just two $10s, one is in the Higgins Museum. It's been nearly a quarter of a century since a note on this bank was offered.
