$1 1928-A & 1928-B #00000005 X-Y-Z Experimental Notes
Grade:
Gem CU
A group of notes, both series 1928-A and 1928-B, were printed in November 1932 on papers with varying rag content to test wear-ability. Blocks X-B and Y-B are on experimental paper with differing relative amounts of linen an cotton fibers. The Z-B block, printed on the regular paper then in use, was used as a control. Just over 10 million of each type, divided between two series, were issued in January and February of 1933. Unlike the more publicized later experiment using the 1935-A series "R" and "S", no special designators except the three noted block letters were employed. The results of this test are unknown. Note the especially low, matching serial numbers (#5) of this set of crisp, uncirculated notes. This three piece lot includes:
1928-A Z-B block
1928-B Y-B block
1928-B X-B block
