This extremely rare Newport bank went into receivership in 1897 and issued just First Charters and a few hundred sheets of Brownbacks. Today, what was a total issue of $411,010 comes down to just $15. One 1875 Series $10 was sold in early 2006 and one $5 Original was sold by Stack's a few days later. The serial number of that note (quoted in several databases) has, I believe, been misread from the catalog photo. It is very likely the note we offer here, with serial #4663-C-U312688. Evenly circulated with clear pen signatures.
