Lot #1813 - Wilmington, First NB, 473

National Bank Notes > Delaware

Wilmington, First NB, 473
Fr. 507 $50 1882BB
Grade: VG/Fine
This note was previously sold by us in December 2001, where it was described as: "An extremely rare type for this state, with just two $50 Brownbacks known, this being the sole example from Delaware's largest and most important city. This is a rare bank, chartered in 1864 but succumbing in 1912. Just three notes are known, making this example doubly rare for bank and for type. Strong pen signatures of George D. Armstrong, Cashier and Edward Betts, President." There are still only two $50 Brownbacks known from the state and this bank has only three notes known. The Kelly premium for this type is $25,000.
Current Bid: $ 9,500.00

Estimate: ($ 15,000.00 - $ 30,000.00)
