$500 1928 I Minneapolis I-A
Grade:
PCGS Very Ch. New 64 PPQ
This rare and avidly collected district is almost as infrequently offered as is the Boston $500 from 1928. When the condition is considered, the importance of this offering cannot be overlooked. We know of the existence of only two other notes in nearly the same grade. They happen to be from the same half-sheet as well, with serial numbers A00004837A and A00004838A. Those two pieces were from the Mraz Collection and were auctioned in late 2005. They have not been seen since. This vividly colored note is kept from a full Gem CU by the slightest left shift. The embossing is as deep as you will ever see on an early $500. Certainly headed for a premium collection.
