British Municipal Council of Tientsin
NL 10 Cents 1.9.1939
Grade: UNC

---

Issued because of a 1939 incident in Tientsin after the manager of the Japanese owned Federal Reserve Bank of North China was assassinated by a Chinese nationalist at the Grand Theater in the city's British area. The Japanese army blockaded the area. Stamped with the city seal top center. English on face and Chinese on back. The only other time we offered this type was a CONSECUTIVE with this piece; it hammered for $1350 back in Memphis 2012.
