One of the rarest of the World War I French emergency small change issues is this epic type from Upper Senegal and Niger. Several years ago, one prominent authority believed that only five or six existed; that number may be a little higher now. Upper Senegal and Niger was the precursor to French Sudan; the name change occurred following World War I. The Standard Catalog states that a 1 and/or 2 Francs "probably exist"; I have NEVER heard of any kind of report indicating this to be the case. PCGS terms this "VF 30 repair". Excellent opportunity.
