$500 Counterfeit Bond, S/N 8297 out of 1 to 10,700, Counterfeit Tyler signature at bottom right. Black text with black border, Confederate seal at top center, Black over pink to dark red tint plate. Fourth Series. Fine-VF condition with some toning, damage to right margin, and annotation at top right corner. Rarity 4+ with 501 to 750 extant, 10,700 prepared. Left imprint: Engraved by J. Archer, Richmond, Va.; Right imprint: Printed by Evans & Cogswell, Columbia, S.C. Bonds such as this were probably filled in after the war and sold to gullible British speculators.
