Fervent, winner of the Dixie Handicap horse race May 8, 1948. 17" x 14". The trainer for Fervent was Horace A Jones, son of Ben A Jones, a legendary horse trainer with Woolford Farms in Prairie Village, KS in the 1930s and then the head trainer with Calumet Farms in Lexington, KY in the 1940-1950s. He was the first trainer to ever win 6 Kentucky Derby Races (until 2020) and also had 2 Triple Crown Winners, Citation & Whirlaway. These photographs were purchased from the estate of Horace A Jones (1906-2001), who took over his father's position at Calumet Farms.
