Year date appears to be 1840; rest of date is illegible. Sir Thomas Munro on horseback; Munro, originally from Scotland, was an East India Company officer who became Governor of Madras in 1819. This note appears to be bisected and then reattached on back; also, other areas of restoration, soiling, small pieces missing, and other signs of circulation. The Standard Catalog does not include any illustrations for any issued notes. Stamped CANCELLED twice. WBG terms this "VG 8, areas of restoration". Excessively rare; we have never previously offered any issued examples. Sold as is; no returns.
