Perforated progress SPECIMEN; serial number #C0001. Counterfoil at left. Paul Kruger portrait note. All South African coins of the Boer Republic bear Paul Kruger's portrait but this exceptionally rare 1891 series is the only South African issue to depict Kruger. Writing on back includes comments "alter the (?) 30,000 perf. Number C0001 to C30000 books of 100 and label as other with large "X"'. PMG terms this "VF 25 NET annotations, internal tears, corning (corner) missing"; the only example on the population report.
