Year date appears to be 1840; rest of date is illegible. Sir Thomas Munro on horseback; Munro, originally from Scotland, was an East India Company officer who became Governor of Madras in 1819. This note appears to be bisected and then reattached on back; also, other areas of restoration, few stains, multiple small tears, splits, nicks, tiny corner pieces missing, and writing on back. The Standard Catalog does not include any illustrations for any issued notes. Stamped CANCELLED twice. Excessively rare; we have never previously offered any issued examples from this authority. Sold as is; no returns.
