Grade: PCGS Ch. New 63 PPQ     PCGS
Looking at the Schwartz O'Donnell reference guide you quickly learn that $50 solid serial numbered notes are the rarest of the rare. The BEP has never printed many $50 notes in any series. According to the Schwartz/Lindquist Standard Guide to Small-Size U.S. Paper Money, we find the following total number printed of solid serial numbered $50 Small Head FRNs by series: 1928-1928A - 0, 1934-1934D - 3, 1950-1950E - 5, 1963A - 0, 1969-1969C - 7, 1974 - 12, 1977 - 14, 1981-1981A - 27, 1985 - 45, 1988 - 28, 1990 - 60. A grand total of only 201 Small Head $50 solid serial number notes were printed. Keeping in mind two facts: 1) While these solids were printed, not all of them were necessarily released into circulation and 2) The vast majority of $50 and $100 notes have been shipped overseas. This is an incredibly rare $50 #D55555555A. Our estimate may be far too conservative. Ex: James W. 'Billy' Key Collection.
