Small Size Type Notes > Federal Reserve Notes
Fr. 2008-H $10 1934-C St. Louis #H0000001B
Grade:
PCGS Ch. Abt. New 58
Light green seal. Advanced collectors realize that locating Federal Reserve Notes with serial #00000001 on any series before 1963 is a tough proposition. The 1950 era #1s show up only occasionally but 1934s are another story. This 1934 era note is over 100 times rarer than $10 FRNs printed on or after 1963. We can find only five serial #00000001s on all blocks on $10 FRNs from 1934 to 1934-D, having ever been publicly auctioned. With small head 1963 to 1995 $10 serial #1s historically bringing $5,000 to $8,000 at auction, this note is worth a multiple of that price range. This $10 1934-C FRN light green seal #H00000001B has the appearance of at least Ch. UNC. It has been graded conservatively as a PMG Ch. Abt. New 58 , with a strong argument for grading it '64' or better. Ex. John Whitney Walter and James W. "Billy" Key Collections.
