185_. Russell, Majors and Waddell were partners in the freighting firm of the same name. These gentlemen, William Hepburn Russell, Alexander Majors and William Waddell, proposed a stage line from Leavenworth to Denver. Majors and Waddell did not go along with the stage line and problems spiraled their business into bankruptcy after the end of the Pony Express and Buttefield getting a contract in 1861. This note was printed by Francis & Loutrel, 45 Maiden Lane, New York. Smott, Russell & Co. Bank, Leavenworth City, K.T. This piece was unknown before 2017.
