NY-240 3 Pence February 20, 1790
Grade: PCGS New 62     PCGS
Harris H17. Found on page 305 in Newman. PCGS notes design redrawn and back mounting remnants. Printed by Hugh Gaine. Engraved signature of D. Phoenix, City Treasurer. Newman cites that these were produced "to satisfy the want of small change." Most are well worn and usually have problems. This is the second nicest example at either service and one of only two graded CU. A prize piece for either the colonial paper money collector or early obsolete note collector. The Newman 3 pence note was an Apparent VF 20 and sold for just under $200. Exceptional grade and rare at this level.
Current Bid: $ 325.00
