United States Congress Federal Indent $9 October 11, 1787
Grade: PMG VF 30     PMG
Only in an area such as colonial currency or colonial fiscal paper could a crushing rarity such as this not be worth $50,000. A "Hardy note" offered here this evening but far superior in most every regard to the other in the following lot. PMG notes pinholes, a fact that is almost laughable since these were printed on thin, onion skin paper and there are always small pinhole size separations in the paper. Wonderfully signed, superbly printed and with absolutely terrific eye appeal. Virtually all of the other indents that we see are from the September 1785 series. The only other example we can find from this October 1787 issuance is the $6 note plated in Newman on page 75. This $9 odd denomination is the only one we have ever seen and it is presumed to be unique. A great trophy item for a fraction of what its real value should be.
