New York Tradesmens Bank of the City of New York $5 Proof

NY-1940 G32. In 1864 this bank became Tradesmens National Bank, charter 570. A black and white proof with a rather well groomed Marquis de Lafayette standing at right. The Peter Mayer collection had a $5 note, which graded VF with large tears and paper pulls, sell for over $350 a couple of years ago. The current offering is vastly superior.
