A new addition to the census of New Mexico National Bank Notes is this, the eighth $50 1882 Date Back to be reported. It appears the none of the known notes is better than this example with its clearly stamped purple signatures. The note bears the date of January 6, 1912 which coincides with the admission the Union as our 47th state. The overall paper quality is good although the margins could be just a touch more equal, top to bottom. We sold a similar note in 2016 at $7,050 and who knows when the next opportunity will arise. There is likely an interesting story behind the need for these high denomination notes over 100 years ago.
