This piece has many sensational qualities as related in a July 2002 Bank Note Reporter article by Paul Green; article included in lot. Serial number #210002 makes it the number 2 note! Green states this piece "is perhaps the lowest serial number of Costa Rica's key modern note" as the number one note (#210001) may not have survived. Unbelievably, this #2 note is also an amazing ERROR with COMMEMORATIVE overprint, signatures, and date fully showing in retrograde on back! This note, sold by the Gold Museum gift shop in San Jose, Costa Rica (I wish they had gift shops like that here!), is a significantly lower serial number than the official holdings of the Gold Museum! Quite possibly unique as an error. In pristine condition, the fortunate winning bidder will have acquired a collection masterpiece.
