The Rainbow Series of 1869 is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and exciting of all currency issued by our government. The uniqueness of the use of color, paper and ink to create such art is indeed the art of the master. It had to be difficult to attempt to improve on the initial design chosen for our Legal Tender notes because amazing is the only work good enough to describe the First Issues, and then came the Rainbows.
