FIRST NY BANK TO ISSUE RED SEALS

Here is an absolutely delightful Red Seal, and it's on a better bank too. All the colors are fully bright and the paper makes for a perfect pure white canvas. The date 3/29/1904 was penned on the face in two places. Fantastic pen signatures of Addie P. Duncan, President and J. G. Kershaw, Cashier, adorn the note as well. Thirteen large size are reported, inclusive of three Red Seals. However, the other two notes of this type are both serial number 1 s, which bring almost a 100% premium over a non number one. This note brought in excess of $10,000 when Stack's auctioned it in 2006. It is just as rare and beautiful today as it was then.
