Large Size Type Notes > Treasury Notes

Fr. 375 $20 1891
Grade: PMG Gem UNC 65 EPQ     PMG
The 1891 $20 Treasury Note is often the most interesting of all stories within the paper money hobby. This was one of the most elusive of all types until a hoard that was sold as the Atlantic Collection was sold off several years ago. When I originally heard about this deal 20 years or so ago we believed there was over a pack of this issue, according to a list I saw in Cleveland way back when. Now they appear infrequently and at prices far in excess of the good old days when even a Fine was impossible to find. I believe Amon Carter, Jr., only had a Fine or VF. It's a great type in top grade, better than most seen offered today. PMG has graded 53 in "65", 29 in "66" and 11 in "67", all EPQ of course. There are also 32 in "64", no EPQ, and 7 in "64" EPQ. I've always wanted to get one while they are available. This note has been graded Gem UNC 65 EPQ by PMG.
