A rare bank from Los Angeles and an extremely scarce charter that has only appeared seven times in more than two decades and, while this note was part of the census, no grade was associated as it has been in a private collection for years. This is one of seven $50 Brown Backs known on the entire state and it's very attractive, although it's a bit flat. The president's signature, W. C. Patterson, is in blue fountain pen, with the cashier's signature visible but illegible. Certainly an important note for a California collector who loves great notes.
