T-42 $2 June 2, 1862 Plate 1/10 Mismatch Error
Grade: PCGS Apparent XF 40
This is nothing short of a superb quality example of a very difficult PLEN error. Plate #1 is seen at left and plate #10 at right. Fricke calls this R-9, with a price of $325+ in VG/F. We have only seen a couple examples of this and the Kelly example grading Fine was the better of the two; that note brought $488.75 at the 2012 FUN sale. This note has a stain and an edge tear at right but the grade is far and away the best we can recall ever having seen. It is very well-margined and fully framed on all sides with otherwise bright paper and some light folds.
