In its early days, the coal business provided much of the income for this town. Just eight large notes have survived, and like many of the notes in this consignment, this is the best of the eight. Only $800 was left outstanding in large size, so I would not expect to see many new discoveries on this bank. From a 1986 Hickman sale.
