An extremely rare Maine bank that shows no notes being offered at auction in the last several decades. Just one other note has been reported, a $10 Brown Back, but it too has not been offered publicly in recent memory. This deuce, long held in a major collection, has a sharp impression and great color, but also has the date "Sep 5 1871" penned on the face. There is one large tear and a number of edge splits, some of which are covered with tape on the back. Still, an important rarity for the Maine collector.
