You can t beat the eye appeal of this striking Red Seal. The bold signatures of Chas. B. Cook, Cashier, and S. B. Chase, President, enhance an already desirable serial number 3 note. This Red Seal is also a nice change from the Third Charter Blue Seals that make up the majority of the notes on this large-only bank. Just three Red Seals are known, all $5s, and only one has ever appeared at a public sale, and that was in 1956. This lovely example has original embossing and virtually no handling. The unusual title was adopted in honor of Metacomet, a war chief of the Wampanoag Indians.
