Houghton, Michigan is located way north in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and this note has to be as interesting a type as you can get from this bank, except its mate, the $20/$10 Value Back or the two inverts would be cute as well. This note was last offered as Lot 336 in the Frank Levitan Collection where it was graded Ch. CU and it realized $18,700. In that sale it was described as: 'This note sold for $325 as Lot 1742 in the Grinnell sale; a huge amount of money at the time, compared to other rarities in the entire auction. This note was offered singly. Apparently Albert never had the opportunity to get both pieces to the puzzle. This note was graded UNC by both Bluestone and Donlon, but it is just not there as it quite obviously has three very faint folds. A rarity of the highest degree'. The signatures are rubber stamped or printed and very lovely. Few collectors are lucky enough to have a rarity like this occur in their collecting area of interest.
