This story says it all about the Salem and the Winston notes. I believe this is the Holy Grail of North Carolinas national bank notes because it was a first charter only bank from a new unique town. There are three 1902 Blue Seals from very small issuers that remain unknown. I am sure a case could be built for any of these banks. Hamlet- Murphy and Warsaw, as their printings were miniscule. This note bears a plate date of Sept. 1, 1866. Barely a year after the war with the north had ended. That must have been quite a period in North Carolina history. This note has numerous folds but no flaws to mention.
