A fabulous Texas rarity on a bank that up until now has been represented by a single 1902 Plain Back. That note belonged to J. L. Irish, and when we sold his collection in 1997, the note brought $1,320 even though it was laminated! This extraordinary $20 Brown Back will certainly turn some heads. In the 27 years the bank was in business, they only issued 2,349 sheets of notes. It was the only bank in all of Somervell County to issue. Precise signatures of N. J. Otey, Vice President and Geo. N. Fritz, Cashier grace the note as well. When you combine rarity and an evocative town name from the avidly collected state of Texas, you can expect some fierce competition.
