January 1, 1851. The Western Bank of Springfield $5 proof is another scarce proof from Massachusetts. There were only four B&W $5 proofs offered in the ABN sale. The center vignette is wild horses running in a field, liberty on right with eagle, and Shakespeare's portrait at left. Imprint of Danforth, Bald & Co. Printed on India paper and mounted on card (Plate C). No ABNC stamp on back. From the Eastern Collection.
