$1 1928-E*
Grade:
PMG Ch. Abt. UNC 58 EPQ
This fantastic note is one of the most desirable and sought-after stars in all small size. In 25 years I have seen just one circulated 1928-E star that even approaches the eye appeal and snap of this specimen, yet it had an additional horizontal fold. This peach is basically a CU note that was folded many years ago and carefully put away. The paper is pure white, the colors are bold and the embossing is sharp. It is clear that the piece has not been trimmed or repaired in any way. Of the approximately dozen or so known examples, PMG has graded only one other. That was a 65 EPQ offered at last year's Memphis auction and valued well into the six figures. In the last few years another CU example was on the market, but it exhibited a very tight bottom margin. Truthfully, I think this note is more desirable than a narrow margined CU, and I expect the bidders will agree. Do not miss this opportunity, as this is the kind of item that will enter strong hands and probably not return to the market for a very long time. Graded Ch. Abt. UNC 58 EPQ by PMG.
