Lot #1896 - Santa Fe, Territory of New Mexico, Second NB of New Mexico, 2024

EARLY NEW MEXICO TERRITORIAL

National Bank Notes > New Mexico

Santa Fe, Territory of New Mexico, Second NB of New Mexico, 2024
Fr. 389 $2 Original
Grade: VG
This Territorial Deuce is a rare type, in that only 30 pieces are known from all the Territories. Only Nebraska, Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Colorado, Utah and New Mexico issued the $2 denomination. Not only that, but it is on a scarce bank as well. This bank was chartered in 1872, yet issued Original Series notes without charter numbers. It liquidated in 1892 having issued just a few sheets of 1875 notes. The result is 11 notes in the census, with only one other Lazy Deuce reported. The note has had some professional restoration around the edges and along the folds, but it was expertly done and the note appears nice for the grade.
Current Bid: $ 9,000.00
