A highly desirable "whaling" vignette is featured on this $2 proof from the Stonington Bank. This vignette is extremely scarce on proofs with full color tint. The red color on these proofs is a different shade than the more commonly seen remainders, which is more of an orange color and overprint. This denomination was unique as a proof in the ABN sale. Imprint of Danforth, Wright & Co. Printed on India paper and mounted on card (Plate A). No ABNC stamp on back. From the Eastern Collection.
