This new discovery is the only 1875 Series note known on the bank, and one of just four First Charters. The Cashier's signature is superb, but the president's is only partially readable. Prior to the appearance of this note, there were a mere six other $5 1875s known for the entire state. First Charters on Virginia in general are rare, with 14 Original Series notes reported and 27 1875s known.
