Not listed in "Indiana Obsolete Notes & Scrip" by Wolka, Vorhies, and Schramm, with no listing for either the town or merchant found. There is a green under-print across the entire front of note, with a portrait of George Washington at left, a single barrel vignette at bottom center, and two barrels at upper right. There is a reference in "History of Vigo and Parke County", published in 1880, that lists a Col. E.M. Benson as a prominent Montezuma merchant since 1846, and having been partners with John G. Davis in a successful business for 17 years, with Col. Benson continuing in the operation once their partnership was dissolved. Certainly a note for any advanced collector of Indiana scrip.
