An early proof printed by Charles Toppan of Philadelphia, with a notable vignette of Charles Carroll at top center. Carroll happened to be the last surviving person to have signed the Declaration of Independence, as he passed away in Baltimore on November 14, 1832 at the age of 95. Mounting remnants are noted on back, and perhaps the oldest hanging "chad" remains at lower right of the punch cancels.
