Without a doubt one of the prettiest $50 Red Seals you will ever have the opportunity to acquire. The vibrant colors and lack of dirt really help the bank officer signatures stand out. Only eleven $50 Red Seals are known for the entire state of Illinois, which mostly grade VG-Fine. The sole exception is an XF/AU example from the First National Bank of Lacon, which was part of the Grinnell Collection. That note has not been seen at auction for decades. That leaves this bright, unpressed and beautiful example as the ultimate Illinois $50 Red Seal available to todays buyers. There are two low grade $100 Red Seals known on the bank, but this is the only $50. Outstanding pen signatures of A. C. Hawkins, Cashier and D. F. Barclay, President.
