There are $50 and $100 Red Seals that pop up once in a great while, but this is the only known $50 Brown Back on the bank. More important, all the census data I have show this to be the only $50 Brown Back known on the entire state. (This cataloger has been told by a collector that this is not the case, but no proof was provided. Even if true, I ll bet that other $50 is not for sale.) In any event, this is a great Rhode Island note and would certainly be a trophy in any collection. It has great pen signatures and full margins. Minor edge restorations are noted by PCGS.
