This bank was chartered as the Freemans Bank in 1833 and it issued Obsolete notes before converting to National Bank notes in 1864. It was liquidated at the end of its 20 year charter at the end of 1884 after issuing 8,580 sheets of First Charters, both Originals and 1875 Series. By 1910 records indicate only $1,631 was outstanding. This is the only use of the Freeman name on a National Bank note and it remains unique. This note has excellent pen signatures with strong body and color. A most important name bank note.
